Biweekly paycheck calculator (2026)

Most US employers pay every two weeks — 26 checks a year, not 24. That is not the same as semimonthly (1st and 15th). Takehome Cash annualizes biweekly gross × 26, then withholds federal, FICA, and state tax. The form starts at $80,000 a year shown as about $3,076.92 gross per check in California.

A biweekly calendar creates two months with three checks. Annual tax still uses the full-year wage; we do not switch methods in those months. If your offer letter quotes an annual salary, divide by 26 for the gross line, or type the annual amount and keep frequency on annual.

Semimonthly pay (24 periods) makes each check a little larger than biweekly for the same salary, and FICA and federal withholding per check change even when the annual liability is similar. Use the frequency control to flip between them.

The $80,000 California single sample matches other comparison pages on this site so you can line up weekly, biweekly, and annual views. CA SDI is now a separate line when California is selected. Reviewed August 24, 2026.
