$25 an hour after taxes (2026)

Twenty-five dollars an hour at 40 hours is $1,000 a week and $52,000 a year before tax. This page answers “what do I take home?” for that rate using the Takehome Cash engine, starting in California. It is a walkthrough of one wage, not a generic hourly form — use the hourly calculator to change the rate.

On a full-time schedule the federal standard deduction ($16,100 single in 2026) covers a large slice of $52,000, so much of the rest is in the 10% and 12% federal brackets. FICA is 7.65% of the wage (no additional Medicare). California then applies its graduated model after the state deduction we encode.

Part-time at $25 (say 20 hours) is $26,000 a year — a different bracket picture. Overtime at time-and-a-half is not automatic; raise the hourly rate or hours if you want a rougher high week. Tips and bonuses are not separated.

Texas, Florida, and other no-wage-tax states will show a higher cash number on the same $52,000 because the state line is zero. That does not make living costs equal. Figures are estimates, reviewed August 24, 2026.

$25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000. That is the sample this page and the hourly calculator share.

Is this my take-home in every state?

No. Change the state control. No-wage-tax states drop the state line to $0 in our model; federal and FICA remain.

Are tips included?

No. Add typical weekly tips into the hourly rate or switch to weekly gross if you want a combined estimate.
